Summer is just around the corner, and that means it's time to "Lace ‘em up!" for Mountain State University basketball camps.
Whether it's offense, defense, one-on-one instruction or fundamental skills development, MSU's basketball camps strive to be the best teaching camps in the country, offering something for everyone.
One-hour individual sessions are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for 4th through 12th graders on June 4 and 8, and July 2, 6, 9 and 13. With just 42 time slots available, act now to reserve your space.
Defense camp is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 5-7 for boys and girls in 8th through 12th grade. Defense wins championships, and the MSU Cougars led the country in field goal defense, holding opponents to just 35.8 percent shooting.
Offensive skills camp for boys and girls entering 8th through 12th grade takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 10-12. This hardworking camp features offensive fundamentals and competition.
Age-specific camps are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon June 11-15 for boys and girls entering 1st, 2nd or 3rd grades; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 25-29 for boys and girls entering 4th and 5th grades; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 18-22 for boys and girls entering 6th, 7th and 8th grades.
The camps will be held under the direction of Head Coach Bob Bolen, along with assistant coaches Dave Barksdale, Artis Maddox, Ryan Arrowood and Zane Gilliard, camp staff member Mike Fowlkes, and MSU basketball players.
Campers are under constant supervision and a professional medical trainer is on staff at all times.
All camps take place on the campus of Mountain State University, Beckley. Participants report to the J.R. Van Meter Gymnasium located behind Carter Hall off South Kanawha Street.
