The Mountain State University Beckley campus raised nearly $950 last week as 81 faculty members, staff and students wore "Denim for a Difference" to benefit the United Way of Southern West Virginia.
Most participants in the five-day event paid suggested donations of $5 to wear jeans to work for one day last week, $10 for three days and $15 for the whole week. Some paid other amounts of their choosing. Participants also wore an official United Way – Denim for a Difference badge.
Together, MSU participants raised $943.99.
The money raised through this campaign helps meet United Way's annual goal of $440,000 to fund the 33 nonprofit community organizations supported by the United Way in Raleigh, Fayette, Summers, Nicholas and Wyoming counties.
